Who remembers this old school horror movie? It was made sometime in the early to mid 80s, and revolves around a girl and her family whos car breaks down, so they seek refuge from a thunderstorm inside the large mansion of an old couple, who are also dollmakers. A few other stranded motorists also seek refuge in the mansion from the storm. No one is aware however of the living dolls which inhabit the mansion. I caught this movie again recently on Showtime:Beyond, and I still enjoy it as much as I did when I was younger. Especially since it wasn't edited for television, so all the kills were seen in full. Gotta feel sorry for the 3 british/rocker chicks. They got it the worst out of everyone.

I watched this last night. Definitely a movie that withstands the test of time. Those are some creepy ass looking dolls. and They did an excellent job on making their movements as realistic as possible. Fullmoon needs to look at this movie as an example of how to make a good killer marionette movie. Then maybe we won't get crap like "Puppetmaster vs The Demonic Toys" anymore. ![::)](http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/291/rolleyes2es1.gif)

With the celebrity status Chucky has achieved in the killer toy subgenre, "Dolls" gets overlooked by alot of people. But it's a film many horror movie fans casual or not should really see. I think it's better than "Childs Play" in some ways because they had to make alot of those dolls look real with the movements and everything, and the size of the dolls made things tougher I'm sure.
Still Stuart Gordon managed to combine great horror elements with the huge mansion full of dolls under the cloud of a late night storm, with some very creative and graphic kills, and a strong element of mystery with the dolls and the old couple that watches over them. I think another thing that made this movie so great was it was clear from the get go who the audience should and shouldn't like. The mean neglectful parents, and the thieving girls were the villains, while the little girl, and the guy who was a kid at heart were the good guys.

I loved DOLLS it was like a twisted fairy tale and those dolls were really evil. My favorite scene is where the dolls are discussing what to do with the ~big kid at heart~ guy, I thought they were going to kill him for sure.

Stuart Gordon's best movie ever! If I ever meet him in person I'm going to press him to do a sequel.

I have always liked "Dolls", I too wish a sequel would happen but Chucky has corned the killer doll market so anything new would have to be really new and revolutionay and not a sequel to an older horror movie.

I thought "Dolls" had some kickass FX with the dolls getting around and stuff but the characters weren't really believeable and the premise was too confusing. Was that old couple good or bad?

Depends on your point of view. They were bad for using black arts to turn people into dolls and for killing the people they did. On the other hand, the girls parents really didn't care about her that much and the three drifter chicks were thieves. So when it comes to DOLLS, everyone except the little girl and the goofy guy did something bad.

"Dolls" is a great movie. Man it's too bad they don't make horror like Stuart Gordon did back then anymore.
